The Dictator is an upcoming American comedy film directed by Larry Charles, produced by Jay Roach and written by Tina Fey. The film is about the friendship of two men living in a country called Wadiya. The main protagonist, General Aladeen (played by Sacha Baron Cohen), is an evil dictator who rules the country with an iron fist, assisted by his brother Tamir (played by Ben Kingsley).The people of Wadiya are suffering under poor living conditions which were caused largely due to Aladeen's greed. However, most are aware there are far worse conditions elsewhere in the world so they have no beef with him one way or another. This is somewhat due to his affinity for global warming and the resulting rising sea levels, as well as his environmentalist policies. However, Aladeen is unable to retain control of the government.The story begins with Aladeen's return home from the United States where the leader of Wadiya (called "The President" in the film) had him make peace with Iran and Pakistan after becoming confused and too drunk to know what was going on. This infuriates Aladeen as he thinks Wadiya should be used as a buffer between major powers rather than working with Iran and Pakistan. He tells the people he is an emissary of God and crushes dissent. Later, Aladeen announces that he plans to become President of the United States. Tamir visits Aladeen at his palace to hold a conference with him regarding Iran's rising power after they had destroyed Wadiya in their war, but Aladeen goes missing. Tamir then confronts his younger brother Abdullah (played by Ben Kingsley) who is also upset about Aladeen's comments about Iran. They break into his office and damage some mechanical restraints with an argument over how to deal with Iran, which is resolved by Abdullah wishing for "one night of bliss" in the form of Aladeen. In the morning, Aladeen is found by his valet Boutros (played by Jamie Foxx) and brought back to the palace where he has an interview with the Prince of Wadiya (called "The Crown Prince" in the film). During his sultry performance for him, he sees news about his brother Tamir having launched a coup against Aladeen. Tamir takes Abdullah into custody after Abdullah's cell phone is found in Tamir's room. He shows them that he has become President after ripping up lines on a map of Wadiya with his powerpoint presentation showing how it would make an excellent buffer between Iran and Pakistan. Aladeen is brought to the palace where he announces that he will be running for President, after finding out who "The Crown Prince" is, which he finds out it is his own brother. As the other candidates present their cases for President, Tamir appears and unveils an award that was sent to Aladeen by "The President". He then remarks that Aladeen has ambitions of becoming President himself. He continues that "The Crown Prince" plans to dissolve the country if he wins.After Tamir's presentation, all other candidates are disqualified except Aladeen who accepts the nomination with no real intention of winning.
